How
to Get Involved Volunteer
Cobb
Trees is always looking for those individuals or groups,
who would like to make a difference in their community.
Cobb Trees needs your support in preserving and beautifying
Cobb County . Can you, your company, or civic
group help? If you are interested in attending
a Cobb Trees event, please email an RSVP to KeepCobbBeautiful@CobbCounty.org
or call 770-528-1135 and ask for the Cobb Trees
Program. “Planting
for a Greener Cobb!” Roots
The
Cobb Trees Program is a branch of Keep Cobb Beautiful,
Inc. that was founded Tuesday, October 24, 2000 when
the Cobb County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted
to plant 84 trees in five locations throughout Cobb
County . The
first planting, December 2, 2000, occurred at Kennworth
Park in northern Cobb County where
24 trees were planted by the group of eager volunteers.
This past season, the program provided nearly 2,000
trees to help beautify and enhance the quality of
life for all Cobb County residents. The
Cobb Trees program provides education activities, contests,
public plantings, mulching and upkeep activities, tree
dedications, tree adoptions, arbor workshops, and other
activities for residents of Cobb. The
program is fully endorsed by Cobb County Manager,
Mr. David Hankerson , Board Of
Commissioners Chairman Sam
Olens and Commissioners
Helen Goreham, Annette Kesting, Tim Lee and Joe
Thompson . It is
also a partnership between several Cobb County departments
such as Cobb County Parks,
Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the Department
of Transportation, Community Development,
Property Management, and the Cobb
County Extension Service. In
addition to county agencies and departments Cobb Trees
works closely with the Georgia Forestry Commission
, and the Cobb County School District.
Much of our trees, materials and refreshments are generously
donated by area businesses that are supportive of our
“green” efforts. Achievements
